Betfred League One Round-Up | Round Three

Dewsbury Rams and Doncaster maintained their one hundred percent records as the 2023 Betfred League One season continued this weekend.

The Rams, led by head coach Liam Finn, have made a bright start to life in the third tier following their relegation from the Championship last year and continued this good run of form with a convincing 25-6 victory at fellow promotion hopefuls Workington Town.

Perry Whiteley’s brace, combined with further scores from Ronan Dixon, Caelum Jordan and Brad Graham helped secure two massive points for the Rams. Veteran Paul Sykes also landed a late drop goal.

Sean Sabutey did cross over for the hosts in the second half, but his score was a mere consolation as the league leaders held on to earn an impressive win.

Doncaster, meanwhile, are up to second in the League One table after recording their third-straight league victory.

Dons captain Sam Smeaton’s hat-trick, along with further tries from Tom Halliday and Travis Corion paved the way for the home side to register a 30-16 triumph over the North Wales Crusaders.

Owain Abel, Chris Barratt and Matt Reid were the scorers for Crusaders.

Elsewhere, Rochdale Hornets claimed their first win of the season after defeating Midlands Hurricanes 32-24 at the Alexander Stadium.

Tries from Andy Clarke (x2), Lewis Else, Cian Tyrer, AJ Boardman and Aiden Roden were enough to secure the points for Gary Thornton's side.

Finally, Hunslet cruised to a 66-22 victory at London Skolars on Saturday afternoon. In-form centre Adam Ryder scored four tries in a ruthless display for Alan Kilshaw’s troops.
